Austin mixed-use development gains inspiration from surrounding landscape

Jan. 4, 2012

The Park Plaza Tower in Austin, Texas, is a mixed-use destination development located near a two-acre public park and the Pfluger Bridge Extension, popular destinations for cyclists and pedestrians. The development includes residential, restaurant, and retail spaces—a residential tower overlooks the Town Lake waterfront and ground-level restaurants offer outdoor dining with views of the park. Ziegler Cooper Architects oversaw the design, incorporating a third-floor amenity deck for residents to use the infinity-edge pool or socialize in the clubroom. Aluminum panels and glass accent the limestone façade of the building’s signature cure, while the penthouse and terrace levels are clad completely in glass.
